I hope that you’ve enjoyed a marvelous weekend! I can’t believe that we’re already on week 5 of digital learning! Only a few more weeks of officially being a sixth grader! We can do this!
Help sessions are avaible in small groups of 3 kids per time slot each Tuesday through Thursday. Please sign up for one slot per day to give others a chance to get assistance.
Please sign up using the Signup Genius link sent to parents’ emails this past weekend. Make sure you have Zoom downloaded on your phone or computer to be able to join.
We’re working on the same standard that we worked on last week! Here is what you will find in Seesaw this week:
Week 5 (DAY 1) – Area of Irregular Figures/Polygons
Watch the review video on how to find the area of irregular/compound polygons.
Complete the 5 problems attached here. Please show your work for each problems and put a circle or square around your final answer. You may write or type your work into Seesaw.
WEEK 5 (DAY 2) – QUIZIZZ – Calculating the Area of Composite Figures
Watch the video that was REPOSTED today if you need a refresher on how to find the area of composite figures.
Click on the link to complete the Quizizz. You may retake it until you earn an 80% or higher. Please make sure to use your real name to receive credit for your work.
WEEK 5 (Day 3) – Check to make sure all of your work is complete.
Please make sure that both of your assignments are done for this week. Please double-check in Synergy to make sure that Mrs. Jean has not sent back an assignment for you to complete properly. Remember, Quizizz should have your real name on it in order to me to assign you a grade in the grade book. Thanks!
Administration has asked that we have our Zoom meetings on Mondays instead of Fridays. Please note that there will be no Zoom meeting this Friday. We will do it at the same time on Monday, April 20th!
Have a great day!
Wellness Wednesday this week will be a zoom video with the counselors. We discuss the importance of wellness and feelings associated with “loss” during this time. We also guide the students through the emotions they might be experiencing along with the importance of staying motivated.
Attached is a worksheet that you are free to use at home with your child.
Thank you for your support!

Welcome back from Spring Break! I hope that you enjoyed some time off! As you may have already been notified from the County, digital learning will take place on Monday-Thursday of each week. Here is a snapshot of that info from the CCSD website.
4-Day a Week Digital Learning Schedule
Beginning Monday, April 13, 2020, for all Cobb County students, and for the rest of the 2019-2020 school year, digital learning will occur on a Monday through Thursday schedule. Each Friday will be an opportunity for students to independently review their progress from the previous week and to catch-up on assignments as needed. No new work or assignments will be presented to students on Fridays.
I hope that this provides your family with some time to catch up as needed. Please remember that I am only posting two days of assignments for the week. I will post an additional day of assignments for those that need or want extra practice. THIS IS OPTIONAL.
Find area of right triangles, other triangles, quadrilaterals, and polygons by composing into rectangles or decomposing into triangles and other shapes; apply these techniques in the context of solving real-world and mathematical problems.
Day 1 – Students will find an assignment in Seesaw called Area of Composite Figures – Video and Task. This task will include a video and practice problems. Please make sure to view the video attached first, then complete the 3 problems. Please show your work.
Day 2 – Students will find an assignment in Seesaw called Independent Practice of Irregular Figures – Video and Task. Students should also watch the review video attached and complete the problems attached for practice.
Day 3 (OPTIONAL) – Students will see an assignment in Seesaw called Area of Composite Polygons 6.G1. There will be notes on the first few pages with examples. Students may use these to help them. There are ample problems for additional practice on this assignment. Since it is OPTIONAL, it does not have to be completed in Seesaw. You may print the sheets, if desired.
****I will continue my Zoom meeting on Friday at 11:30 or anyone needing assistance or just wanting to check in and chat with everyone. Zoom Meeting ID is: 513-261-4395. The password to enter the meeting will be posted in SeeSaw. Mrs. Jean will only let in those with familiar student/parent names from the waiting room.
*******Spring Break is the week of April 6th -10th! There will be no digital learning during Spring Break.*******
Food distribution will continue on April 6th, however!
